About SunkenOrangeDesign
From idea to object
SunkenOrangeDesign didn't start as a brand, but as a solution. Store-bought objects were often too expensive, the wrong shape, or simply not what I had in mind. A 3D printer made it possible to create things myself. At first using existing files, but soon the urge grew to design original forms from scratch.
The printer became a tool, then a playground, and eventually a workshop table without sawdust.
That moment when a digital idea — just lines on a screen — turns into a physical object you can hold a few hours later never stopped feeling special. As shelves at home slowly filled with prints and prototypes, the next logical step was to share these objects with others.
Close to the making process
All designs are produced locally, in small batches or made to order. This isn't a branding decision but a natural result of how the work began. Staying close to the production process ensures full control over shape, quality and detail.
Sometimes a design comes together in one evening. Sometimes it takes weeks — adjusting, reprinting, adjusting again. That's not a problem, that's the process.
Materials by conscious choice
Most objects are printed in PLA, a plant-based bioplastic. It allows precise printing, more conscious material use and freedom to experiment with colour and layered textures without unnecessary waste. When function requires it, a different material is used. Function always guides the material choice.
Form, colour and rhythm in space
These objects are designed to bring rhythm and balance into a space. Some designs add calm through repetition and soft geometry, others introduce a bold accent of colour. They work beautifully with dried, silk or LEGO flowers, but can just as well stand on their own.
The goal is simple: that moment when someone places an object and thinks "this fits perfectly here."
Not mass-produced, but locally made — built layer by layer, from idea to object.
